v6 was trained “from the ground up” on licensed catalogs from major rights holders — Warner Music, BMG and the distributor Believe (including TuneCore) — and, per Suno, without the data the earlier versions learned from. The practical takeaway: v6 is not “v5.5 but better,” it is a different model with a different ear. Prompts and tricks tuned for the old versions are worth re-checking — some things sound different.
Three models: v6, v6-mini, v6-wild
v6 — the main one, top quality. Paid plans.
v6-mini — free, faster and lighter. Good for sketches and iterations.

What happens to the old models and your tracks
Suno is retiring the previous models (v3.5–v5.5) in favour of v6. Tracks you already made stay in your library — playable, shareable and usable as a basis. But generating on the old models is being phased out, so plan new songs on v6 directly. If you had “working” v5.5 prompts, save them and re-check them on v6.
About “in the style of an artist” — honestly
Because v6 is trained on licensed music, direct “sing like ” requests are refused. That is not a dead end: a recognizable sound comes from describing the style, not naming it — era, vocal type, instruments, production, tempo and BPM.
