Suno Mangling Names & Brands — How to Pronounce Them Right
A character's name, a city, a brand or an English word sounds wrong in your Russian song? Suno reads unfamiliar words by its own rules. The fix is simple: write them in Cyrillic the way they should sound.
Why it happens
The model is trained mostly on English. It sings Russian "by letters", and fills in unfamiliar proper nouns, brands and Latin with English-style phonetics — so "Spotify" turns into something unrecognizable. The cure: you set the sound yourself in Cyrillic.
The fix: transliterate into Russian phonetics
Replace Latin and tricky names with a Cyrillic spelling by sound:
🔤 Before → after
Spotify → Спотифай
YouTube → Ютуб
iPhone → Айфон
weekend → уикенд
online → онлайн
2026 → две тысячи двадцать шесть
Names and surnames
Write phonetically the way the name should sound in the song.
Split by syllable long/ambiguous names in the line if the vocal stumbles.
Mark the stress on the right vowel — the model stops guessing.
Numbers as words: "2026" → spelled out.
Doing this by hand for a whole song is slow. Our tool preps Russian lyrics for a clean Suno vocal — marks stresses and flags problem spots.
The model is trained mostly on English and "guesses" the pronunciation of unfamiliar words. Names, cities, brands and English words inside a Russian lyric get read by its own rules — hence distortion. The fix is to write the word in Cyrillic the way it sounds.
How do I get an English name pronounced right?
Transliterate it into Russian phonetics: "Spotify" → "Спотифай", "iPhone" → "Айфон", "YouTube" → "Ютуб". The model sings by letters, so Cyrillic spelling gives the right sound.
What about tricky names and surnames?
Write them phonetically, split by syllable in the line if needed, and put a stress mark on the ambiguous vowel — then the vocal does not guess.
Is this the same as lyrics prep?
Partly. Russian lyrics prep is about stresses, endings and consonant clusters in ordinary words. This guide is specifically about proper nouns, brands and Latin script. The two complement each other.
Can it be automated?
Yes. Our Russian lyrics prep tool preprocesses the text for Suno — marks stresses and flags problem spots; transliteration of names/brands you add by hand using the examples below.
