Slade: style for Suno V6

Slade were the loudest, rowdiest and most joyously working-class of Britain's early-1970s glam-rock bands, a hit machine built on stomping beats and roof-raising singalongs. Fronted by Noddy Holder's astonishing gravel roar — one of rock's great voices — they specialised in choruses engineered for a whole stadium to bellow back, often spelled out in their trademark misspelt titles. The sound is deliberately raw and huge: crunching, chugging guitars, a thunderous four-square beat, hand-claps, stomps and gang vocals, all pitched somewhere between a rock concert and a football terrace. Beneath the racket sat genuinely sharp songwriting and irresistible hooks. From 'Coz I Luv You' and 'Mama Weer All Crazee Now' to 'Cum On Feel the Noize', their glam-era singles were pure communal energy, later covered by a generation of rock and metal bands. They racked up a remarkable run of UK number ones, and their perennial Christmas anthem returns to the charts every single year. Rowdy, warm-hearted and impossible to sit still to, Slade defined the fun, communal side of glam — music made not for cool detachment but for jumping up and down with a room full of people, arms in the air and voices raised.
