Baccara: style for Suno V6

Baccara were a Spanish female duo who became one of the defining acts of the 1977-78 disco boom, scoring an international number one with an irresistibly sultry, singalong anthem. Their formula paired two intertwined female voices — breathy, glamorous and unmistakably Spanish-accented — with slick continental disco production. Beneath the four-on-the-floor beat and sweeping strings ran flashes of flamenco: hand-clap rhythms, castanet colour and a theatrical, cabaret flair that set them apart from the American disco of the era. The arrangements are lush yet playful, built around hooks that lodge instantly and choruses designed for maximum audience participation. Styled in glamorous gowns and trading lines with easy chemistry, the duo turned disco into a piece of pure showbusiness spectacle. Their transatlantic number one 'Yes Sir, I Can Boogie' became one of the best-selling singles ever by a female group, and in 1978 they carried 'Parlez-vous francais?' to the Eurovision stage on behalf of Luxembourg. Their biggest hits crossed every border, and in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe especially they became shorthand for the glittering disco years — songs still guaranteed to fill a dance floor and coax a crowd into singing along, decades after their release.
